Our next AMI 12-18 Orientation taking place ON-SITE:

The AMI Montessori 12–18 Orientation provides foundational Montessori theory and principles for supporting adolescent development (12-18 years). Lecture topics focus on the central principles of Montessori, the needs and characteristics of the adolescent, and the key principles that support Study and Work for this stage of human development, including the prepared environment, the role of the adult, and the importance of experiencing social and economic independence.

This 4-day ON-SITE workshop introduces communities, schools, teachers, administrators, parents, and support personnel to the developmental background and frameworks that support adolescents from 12- 18 years guided by Montessori principles. Led by Laurie Ewert-Krocker, AMI 12-18 Trainer and long-time practitioner and consultant for adolescent communities, this workshop will cover topics such as General Montessori Principles, the Needs and Characteristics of Adolescents, the Prepared Environment and Role of the Adult during Adolescence, and the importance of Self-Expression and participation in Production and Exchange. The course is lecture-based, but will include discussions, seminars and some on-site experiential components.

Certificate Requirements:
90% attendance
2 hours of observation of adolescents in general – either immediately after or parallel to the course. Specific topics to focus on will be given for observation.
One 1-2 page reflection on observations due June 19th, 2026.
Required Hours: 24 hours of onsite lectures, discussions, seminars, and experiences plus 1-2 hours of asynchronous work
